If one of you freelances or runs a side business, Halfway can keep that money separate from your household finances without you needing a second app or a duplicate set of categories.
Turning it on
- Go to Business in the menu.
- Follow the short setup and give your business a name.
You can add more than one business if you run several.
How it works day to day
Once it's on, every transaction gets a Business toggle. Flip it, and that transaction is business rather than personal or shared. That's the whole workflow — you don't need special categories, and your normal ones keep working.
What it keeps separate
- Business transactions don't count towards your household budgets, your shared spending, or who owes whom.
- They get their own dashboard with income, expenses and profit.
- You can break spending down by category, by merchant, or by what you buy most often.
This matters at tax time: a client lunch shouldn't make it look like you blew your household dining budget, and your partner shouldn't be asked to cover half of it.
Is it private from my partner?
Business tracking is switched on per person, so it's yours. Treat it like personal spending rather than a locked vault: it stays out of shared totals and settlements.
