Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, completely. Your bank statement CSV is processed entirely in your browser using JavaScript. The file never leaves your device, is never sent to any server, and is never stored anywhere. Once you close or refresh the page, the data is gone. We built it this way on purpose because your financial data is nobody's business but yours.

This tool works with CSV files exported from most major banks. Look for an "Export" or "Download transactions" option in your online banking portal. Most banks let you download transactions as a CSV file for the last 30, 60, or 90 days. The tool automatically detects common CSV column formats from banks like Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Capital One, and many others.

You'll see your spending broken down by category (housing, food, transportation, entertainment, etc.), identify your top merchants, spot subscription charges you may have forgotten about, and see monthly trends in your spending. Many people are surprised to discover how much they spend on dining out or small recurring charges they didn't realize they were paying for.

At minimum, review your spending monthly. Many couples find it helpful to do a quick analysis at the start of each month to review the previous month's spending. This takes about 5 minutes and can help you catch unexpected charges, identify spending patterns, and stay aligned with your budget goals.
