He Venmo-Requested Me for the Electricity His Phone Used Charging at My Place

We've been dating for six months. Last weekend, after staying over, I got a Venmo request for $0.03 with the note "Phone charge electricity 8hrs." I thought it was a joke. It wasn't.

When I laughed it off and didn't pay, he sent me a detailed spreadsheet showing how he calculated the wattage of his iPhone charger (5W), multiplied by hours plugged in, converted to kWh, and applied my local electricity rate. He even included a footnote about "vampire draw" from leaving the charger plugged in after unplugging his phone.

The spreadsheet had three tabs. THREE TABS. One for the calculation, one for "historical charges" (apparently this isn't the first time), and one projecting our "fair electricity sharing" if we ever move in together.

I paid the $0.03 just to end the conversation. He thanked me and said he appreciated my "commitment to financial transparency."

We're still together. I don't know why.
